Functions and Events At Conestoga House and Gardens!

Conestoga House and Gardens is made available for free garden tours in combination with various events and functions by non-profit groups through the courtesy of the Steinman family and the James Hale Steinman Conestoga House Foundation. Such events may include benefit or fund-raising functions, retreats and small conferences, receptions, group picnics, etc. after approval by the manager. Please note that neither the house nor the gardens are available for private or family parties, weddings, or wedding receptions or private photo sessions.
Reservation Requests
To reserve the house and/or gardens for a function or an event for a non-profit group, please call Conestoga House at 717-397-5353 Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and arrange a date and time with the manager. Requests can also be completed online. The estate manager must be notified after filling out these forms and verbal approval will be given by phone.
Indoor Events
Because much of the furniture in the house is antique, we specifically ask that you do not move any furniture in any of the rooms under any circumstances.
General Notes
Please be aware that our staff is limited and therefore the house and grounds are not available for use on weekends or Mondays. Please be as specific as possible in filling out the request form as to any tables, electrical outlets, and other equipment that you would like us to provide for your function or event. Outdoor Events
An eating area with seating for 32 people is available for use by non-profit groups in the Dance Floor area. There is limited access to kitchen facilities in the main house for food refrigeration. The pool is no longer available for use due to a new federal law. Please be aware that there are many steps in our multi-leveled garden areas and the ground is uneven in many areas.

Smoking
Smoking is prohibited on the grounds.
Handicap Accessibility
The gardens are not wheelchair-accessible overall. Because of the way in which the gardens were originally laid out and terraced, the installation of a system of ramps would entail changing some areas that are used for other plantings. Currently a limited tour of the lower areas, comprising about half of the entire garden area, is available for the physically handicapped.
